Sources: Mariners ship '20 ROY Lewis to D-backs

The Mariners and Diamondbacks have agreed to a trade that will send outfielder Kyle Lewis to Arizona and outfielder/catcher Cooper Hummel to Seattle, sources familiar with the situation told ESPN’s Jeff Passan on Thursday.

Lewis, 27, was the AL Rookie of the Year in the COVID-shortened 2020 season, but he missed most of 2021 due to a right knee injury.

He returned to Seattle in May and finished the season hitting just .143 in 18 games for the big league club. The bulk of his year was spent at Triple A, where he hit .245 with 12 home runs.

Hummel, 27, made his major league debut this past season. He appeared in 66 games, hitting .176 with a .580 OPS, while seeing time in the outfield, at catcher and at DH.
