Porsche EVs get Tesla Supercharger access via adapter

Porsche today announced that its EV owners would be able to access the 23,500-strong Supercharger network stations via an adapter starting September 9th.

Big news for Porsche EV drivers: access to Tesla’s massive Supercharger network is finally here. Porsche has announced that customers will be able to plug in using a Porsche-supplied NACS DC adapter, opening up thousands of new fast-charging locations across North America.

For now, this soft launch will run through the Tesla app, but Porsche says charging via the My Porsche app—and full plug-and-charge capability—will roll out in the coming months.

“We are continually working to make every aspect of Porsche ownership as convenient as possible for our customers – and this news represents a significant step for owners of our electrified cars,” said Timo Resch, President and CEO of Porsche Cars North America.

Here’s how Porsche will be rolling out the access:

  • Starting with Model Year 2026, all new Taycan and Macan Electric models will ship with the NACS DC adapter included—no extra charge.
  • If you already own a Model Year 2025 Taycan or any Macan Electric, Porsche will provide the adapter free of cost.
  • Older Porsche EVs will get access via $185 adapter purchase which is currently listed as “coming soon”
  • Porsche’s charger-finding software will be updated later this year to include Tesla’s Supercharger network on its maps

This marks a major convenience upgrade for Porsche EV drivers, giving access to the most reliable and widespread fast-charging networks in the US.

Electrek’s take:

This is big news not just for Porsche EV owners but also Audi and VW EV owners hoping to gain access to the Tesla Supercharger network. It means that the VAG software developers have finaly “Cracked the code” and subsequently other brands should fall in line.

As for the adapter itself, it looks suspiciously like a Lectron adapter so if you don’t want to wait for the Porsche store to stock up, you can probably just order a Lectron one online.
