Athletics' Gelof 0-for-4 in return; Urias DFA'd

WEST SACRAMENTO, Calif. — The Athletics designated second baseman Luis Urias for assignment Monday while recalling Zack Gelof from Triple-A Las Vegas to play the same position.

Gelof, who began the year on the injured list after right hand surgery March 24, opened his second stint with the club Monday night. Batting eighth in the lineup, he went 0-for-4 in an 8-3 victory over the Detroit Tigers.

Urias signed a one-year, $1.1 million contract with the team in February. He made 83 starts at second base and five more at third, batting .230 with 8 homers and 25 RBIs over 96 games for the last-place A’s.
