Nissan is revamping its lineup as part of a major brand overhaul. The new Micra EV is the first of four new updated vehicles that Nissan is betting on for a comeback.

Since the first model launched in 1983, Nissan has sold over 6 million Micras globally. Now in its sixth generation, the Micra is back after a two-year break and available exclusively as an EV.

Nissan revealed prices for the Micra EV start at £22,995 ($30,500) for the 40 kWh battery. The electric hatch will be available with two battery packs, 40 kWh or 52 kWh, offering WLTP range of 198 miles and 260 miles, respectively.

That’s +7 more miles than Nissan initially announced for the smaller battery and +6 additional miles for the extended range pack.

The Micra EV is available in three trim levels: Engage, Advanced, and Evolve, with prices ranging from £22,995 ($30,500) to £29,865 ($40,000). However, these prices do not include the new £1,500 ($2,000) UK electric car grant, for which Nissan believes the new Micra will qualify.

With a 100 kW DC charger, the electric Micra can recharge from 15% to 80% in 30 minutes. Nissan included a heat pump as standard on both battery options to optimize battery heating and cooling.

Inside, the Micra EV features a 10″ central touchscreen with Nissan Connect infotainment system. The setup includes Google Maps with Google built-in services.

Nissan will open orders for the Micra EV on September 1, 2025. It will be the first of four new Nissan EVs to launch in Europe by the end of next year. Later this year, the next-gen LEAF will arrive, followed by an electric Juke and Qashqai EV.

Arnaud Charpentier, Nissan’s European marketing chief, told Autocar that “we had to come back with something different” given that the UK is Nissan’s best market in Europe.

Charpentier added, “I think this new car will create a gap between what people have in mind when they look or think of the [Micra] nameplate and what is now the reality.”
