Woman in Coldplay concert video resigns as Astronomer's chief people officer - days after CEO

The woman who went viral after she was seen embracing a colleague at a Coldplay concert has resigned.

Kristin Cabot plunged her head into her hands and turned her back after appearing on giant screens at the gig in Boston.

In a statement, the tech firm Astronomer confirmed she has stepped down as chief people officer.

She was in the arms of Andy Byron at the time, who also resigned as the company’s chief executive officer a few days ago.

Coldplay’s lead singer Chris Martin poked fun at the couple as they tried to hide from the camera – quipping: “Either they’re having an affair or they’re very shy.”

The footage quickly went viral on social media, with Ms Cabot and Mr Byron later identified as the two people in the clip.

After Mr Byron resigned, the company had said in a statement: “Astronomer is committed to the values and culture that have guided us since our founding.

“Our leaders are expected to set the standard in both conduct and accountability, and recently, that standard was not met.”

Astronomer has previously confirmed that “no other employees were in the video”, with false reports online suggesting that another staff member had been at the event.

Pete DeJoy, who has taken over as interim CEO, admitted on Monday that the company has faced an “unusual and surreal” amount of attention in recent days.

On LinkedIn, he wrote: “While I would never have wished for it to happen like this, Astronomer is now a household name.”

So-called “kiss cams” are a popular feature at gigs and sporting events, but the incident has inspired many fans to start ducking if they end up appearing on screen.

Chris Martin, performing for the first time since the viral video last Saturday, also gave concertgoers a heads-up before the kiss cam sprang into action.

He said: “We’d like to say hello to some of you in the crowd. How we’re gonna do that is we’re gonna use our cameras and put some of you on the big screen.

“So please, if you haven’t done your make-up, do your make-up now.”
