Cadillac's most affordable EV just got even better with a built-in NACS port and much more

Cadillac’s new entry-level electric vehicle is about the size of a Tesla Model Y, and it’s already off to a strong start. Over 75% of Optiq buyers were new to the brand last month, but for the 2026 model year, Cadillac is taking it to the next level. The 2026 Cadillac Optiq now features a built-in NACS port for charging at Tesla Superchargers, a new rear-wheel-drive (RWD) option, and several other upgrades.

Meet the 2026 Cadillac Optiq EV

With 13 electric vehicles across its Chevy, Cadillac, and GMC brands, GM is quickly gaining ground. Chevy is now the fastest-growing EV brand in the US, but Cadillac is emerging as a dark horse in the luxury segment.

Cadillac wants to be the bestselling luxury EV brand this year. So far, it’s off to a pretty good start with a full lineup of all-electric luxury vehicles, including the entry-level Lyriq, the three-row Vistiq, and the larger Escalade IQ.

After delivering the first model in late 2024, Cadillac sold over 1,700 Optiq models in the first quarter, outpacing its luxury rivals, including Mercedes-Benz, Genesis, and Lexus.

Currently, the Optiq is only available with all-wheel drive (AWD). A new Dual Motor AWD option is joining the 2026 lineup, which GM estimates can crank out 440 hp (324 kW) and 498 lb-ft (675 Nm) of torque.

Even better, the 2026 Cadillac Optiq will be one of the first GM vehicles to feature a built-in NACS port, unlocking access to over 21,500 Tesla Superchargers across North America.

Cadillac’s entry-level Optiq EV offers “segment-best range” with an estimated 300 miles. It can also gain up to 79 miles of range in 10 minutes with 150 kW DC fast charging.

The interior is just as impressive as the exterior, with a segment-leading 33″ diagonal LED display with 9K resolution. It also has best-in-class rear cargo room with up to 26 cubic feet.
