MP Mike Amesbury has been summonsed to court to face an assault charge, police have said.
Cheshire Police said it followed an assault in Frodsham on 26 October.
It comes after CCTV footage showed an altercation involving the 55-year-old MP.
In a statement, police said the charge “relates to reports of an assault on a 45-year-old man on Main Street, Frodsham, which was reported to police at 2.48am on Saturday 26 October”.
Labour have suspended Mr Amesbury, who represents Runcorn and Helsby.
