Sources: Toledo transfer Finn wins Baylor QB job

Dequan Finn has won Baylor’s starting quarterback job, sources confirmed to ESPN’s Adam Rittenberg on Monday.

Finn was a three-year starter at Toledo, where he was the MAC’s most valuable player last year after threw threw for 2,657 yards with 22 touchdowns to nine interceptions last season. The 6-2, 206-pound fifth-year senior also ran for 563 yards and seven touchdowns, helping lead to an 11-2 season and a MAC championship. He has played in 45 games in his career, starting 32, while throwing for 7,074 yards and 63 TDs while rushing for another 1,840 yards with 25 scores.

After ranking 101st nationally in offense last year, Aranda parted ways with offensive coordinator Jeff Grimes and his NFL-style offense, and moved to Jake Spavital and the Air Raid.

Blake Shapen, who started 23 games for the Bears over three seasons and was honorable mention All-Big 12, transferred to Mississippi State.

Finn beat out redshirt juniors Sawyer Robertson, a Mississippi State transfer who started four games last year at Baylor and RJ Martinez, who appeared in three games last season as well.

Baylor opens the season on Aug. 31 in Waco against Tarleton State at 7 ET (ESPN+).

247 Sports first reported Finn had won the job.
