Coronation Street star Hayley Tamaddon told she has arthritis after 'horrendous' neck pain

Hayley Tamaddon, who starred in Coronation Street, has arthritis, she has revealed.

The 47-year-old actress, who also appeared in Emmerdale and Dancing On Ice, posted on Instagram she has been dealing with “horrendous” neck pain.

She felt like her “head was going to explode” and she “puked up twice” after waking up, she wrote on the site on Thursday morning.

Tamaddon – who played Andrea Beckett in Coronation Street from 2013 until 2015 – added she “realised I really should see a doctor” after dropping her son Jasper off at nursery and arriving for a photoshoot.

“Ended up in hospital. On a drop for medication. It didn’t work,” she wrote.

“Head and neck pain still horrendous. Had a scan. Got told I have arthritis. Came home.

“Picked jasper up. Made tea. Put him to bed. Took some tablets. Had a cry.

“Going back to the hospital tomorrow. Life of a single working mum.”

Around 10 million people in the UK have arthritis, which causes joint pain and inflammation, according to a Versus Arthritis UK data report.

The charity’s website lists dozens of conditions that are arthritic or linked to arthritis.

Women are more likely to be affected by the most common types of arthritis than men.
