The family of a woman who was found dead after going missing while walking her dog have paid tribute to her.
Ausra Plungiene, from Prestatyn, North Wales, disappeared on Tuesday last week when she is believed to have left for a walk with her dog Eyora at about 10.30am but failed to return home.
A search involving multiple emergency service agencies was launched in Snowdonia – also known in Wales as Eryri National Park – after the alarm was raised shortly before 10pm on Tuesday.
Her body was discovered near Yr Aryg in the Carneddau mountain range on Thursday.
In a statement, Ms Plungiene’s family described the last few days as “horrific” and called her an “angel” who “enhanced” the lives of those she touched.
Her relatives said Ms Plungiene, 56, was “off on another adventure”.
“We are sure the lives she touched while this angel was with us have been enhanced.”
The family thanked people for their “support, love and good wishes that they have given us over the last few horrific days”.
“We cannot express enough thanks to so many people that gave up their time to search for our beloved Ausra,” they added.
“The police and all their work in front and behind the scenes to trace activities, look after us, support and advise us has been truly remarkable.
“The mountain rescue service, RAF, support helicopters, army and every single individual that we cannot name tried their hardest to find her, through at times very difficult conditions.
“We cannot thank you all enough.”
